Laurence qualified as a Personal Trainer (PT) whilst serving as a UK Military Reservist. During his early PT career he coached endurance athletes, runners, youth weightlifting and functional fitness group classes. Keen to support individuals with non-performance goals he went on to provide health and wellbeing coaching to members of the charity Turning Point UK, which supports individuals recovering from drug and alcohol issues.
His enthusiasm for the outdoors and his awareness of the mental health benefits of nature-based recreation saw him lead groups of recovering addicts on mini-expeditions in the UK. Around the same time, he set up and directed the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme Expedition programme at Holland Park School, in west central London.
More recently he has focused on programming for competitive athletes including triathletes, ultra-trail marathon runners, coastal rowing teams, functional fitness athletes, and, military and law enforcement.
Away from coaching he enjoys training for the sport of functional fitness and taking part in skyrunning and triathlon events. He typically spends his recovery days open water swimming and stand-up paddle boarding with his wife and daughter.
